Srinagar: Seven Amarnath pilgrims, including 5 women, were killed in a terrorist attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir tonight.

The terrorists attacked an armoured police vehicle shortly before 8.30 p.m. and the police returned fire. When this incident took place, a bus carrying pilgrims, who were returning from the Amarnath shrine, was there on the highway. The terrorists fired at the bus before they fled from the scene killing seven pilgrims and injuring many others.

According to the police, there is a strict rule that no bus carrying pilgrims should be on the highway after 7 p.m.
