The newly-formed BJP-led Maharashtra government marked a significant milestone on Sunday with a grand Cabinet expansion at Raj Bhavan in Nagpur. In a politically significant move, 39 ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar were sworn into office.
The Cabinet composition reflects the coalition’s balance of power: 19 ministers represent the BJP, 11 hail from the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and nine are from Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP. This expansion comes just 10 days after Devendra Fadnavis assumed office as Chief Minister, following a resounding victory in November’s Assembly elections. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were also elevated as Deputy Chief Ministers, further cementing the alliance’s diverse yet unified leadership structure.
