Mumbai: Devendra Fadnavis assumed office as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister on Thursday evening, concluding nearly two weeks of political stalemate and marathon negotiations between the BJP and Shiv Sena over leadership in the state.

In his inaugural address, Fadnavis shared his vision for Maharashtra’s future, stating, “From now on, our efforts will be focused on the state’s development, and we will not waver in this mission.”

Striking a conciliatory tone towards Sena leader Eknath Shinde, Fadnavis remarked, “Our goals remain aligned… only our roles have changed.”

Outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar of the NCP, were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the trio paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Mantralaya, where Fadnavis cleared the first official document as Chief Minister by signing a medical assistance order.

This is Fadnavis’s third term as Chief Minister, complementing his record as a six-time MLA.
