Founder head of SISIR Radar and former Director Space Applications Centre Tapan Misra, on Wednesday 13 December 2023, delivered the key note address at a special session on Emerging Start up Ecosystem of India during the IEEE MAPCON 2023 conference in Ahmedabad. He shared his personal experience of growing with his successful startup SISIR RADAR.

I acknowledged that establishing a startup comes with a lot of inherent risks, including the risk of career and failure. And the endeavour also comes with a baggage of unlearning many extant wisdom and knowledge, an intellectual dilemma itself. When charting an unknown path, you cannot really move ahead with too much calculation of risks, waiting on your path. But you must be conscious of the possible impediments and this consciousness comes handy in dealing with them as and when you encounter them. The resultant experience is a thrill which is unmatched with any experience of comfort and surity of salaried life. I acknowledge that building a startup, is not everybody’s cup of tea. But if you have the inherent urge within you, stamina to take the bull by the horn and a desire to create something new, which not only satisfies you personally in contributing your mite to your country but helps you feed many mouths of your larger family of colleagues, it is better to take the plunge. Such creative people, imprisoned in the comfort of a salaried career, feel the pangs of a tiger in a cage, reduced to an existence, no better than a glorified cat.
