Melbourne: Professor Dr Anoop Swarup has been elected Secretary General of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific ( AUAP).

There are over 5000 universities in the Asia Pacific region.

Professor Dr Swarup is former Member AUAP Advisory Council. He is a renowned educationist and expert of revenue, finance and security matters and has a vast global experience.

Professor Dr Swarup is a recipient of Hiroshima Peace Award, Japan, Presidential Award, India, Ambassador of Peace Award Australia, honorary doctorates, fellowships and medals, An ardent Gandhian he has over 40 years of distinguished professional experience in diverse roles as an educationist and life scientist, poet, writer and columnist, futurist and peace activist, social entrepreneur and civil servant, working in diverse roles as Executive Director NYKS, Ministry of HRD, Director and Director and Commissioner, Ministry of Finance, Member Indian Revenue Service, United Nations Representative with UNSC appointed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon in 2007, Emeritus Professor in India and abroad and as a Vice Chancellor since 2008.

Professor Dr Swarup is a distinguished Fellow of Royal Society of Arts, London (FRSA) in 2015, recipient of Hiroshima Peace Award in 2016, Highest Award of Recognition by Soka University, Tokyo in 2016, Honorary Doctorate by George Washington University of Peace Studies, a Global Environment Outlook Reviewer with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, (UNEP) that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, Amrita Devi Bishnoi Medal in 2013, prestigious Citation by the Zoological Society of India in 2014 in Environmental Sciences and UNESCAP Hon’ble Mention in 2001 for voluntary work during the Orissa Super Cyclone in 2000 and the Gujarat Earthquake of 2001. A Fellow of World Business Institute, (2016), Fellow, Zoological Society (2013) as also Fellow and Life Member of many other Institutions such as the International Institute of Strategic Studies, (IISS), London, Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), All India Management Association (AIMA). He has been a speaker, resource person and a Visiting Professor with Universities and Institutions internationally such as Monash University, Australia, Lancaster University, UK, IISS London, WTO and WCO Brussels, WIPO Washington DC. An alumnus of Universities in India and abroad, he holds a Doctorate and four distinguished master’s with first positions and University Gold Medals in diverse fields that include Management, Finance, Défense & Strategy and Life Sciences. He has been a Fulbright Visitor to United States (2004), Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow (2002), Ausaid Fellow (2001), recipient of NCERTs National Science Talent Scholarship (1971), UGCs JRF (1980), CSIRs SRF (1981).

Professor Dr Swarup has worked in close collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) where he instituted jointly with Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), to launch the Wild Life Volunteers and was nominated as the South Asia Director of TRAFFIC-WWF to implement CITES, with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), he had entered into a formal MOU to impart adult literacy programs and developed the resource manuals for the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Fund for Population (UNFP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV). Amongst his, notable books are ‘Aloha’ and ‘Arcadia’ Book of Poems, and edited books ‘’Give Nonkilling a Chance’, released by former President of India, Dr Pranab Mukherjee,’ Give Nonviolence a Chance’ released by the former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, His widely read blogs and columns include, My World My Times, Thinking Beyond. Amongst his several scientific publications and books are ‘Indian Civilization Through the Millennium’, Bio Innovations and Entrepreneurship’, ‘The World of Money laundering, Commercial frauds & Financial Crimes’ and ‘Regional Economic Engagements & Free Trade Agreements’ He is the Editor at Large of ‘Jagran International Journal of Contemporary Research’, Chief Editor of ‘International Journal of Research in Engineering and Technology’ and the Editor ‘Nice Journal of Business’, listed in Cabel’s Directory, USA.

Professor Dr Swarup has been a promoter and Director Companies in India and abroad such as Global Opportunities Commercialization, Global Knowledge Alliance, Nobles Knowledge Network and on the Board of Association of Universities of Asia Pacific, Association of Indian Universities, Central Board of Secondary Association as also many Companies such as Avesthagen and Symstream. As Editor at Large of ‘Jagran International Journal of Contemporary Research’, Newsroom 24×7, Chief Editor, ‘International Journal of Research in Engineering and Technology’ and Editor ‘Nice Journal of Business’, he has promoted scientific research as also innovations and enterprise across the world. He had earlier in career had joined the public sector, General Insurance Corporation working with New India Assurance (1981) and as Member of Indian Revenue Service (1985), in various senior positions was posted at Mumbai, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Indore, Kolkata, Port Blair, New Delhi and London, having also received 43 commendations, accolades and awards in positions such as Commissioner, Commissioner (Appeals), Director, in HRD Ministry, Director with Ministry of Finance, and as Executive Director (NYKS) Ministry of Human Resources, heading the world’s largest Youth organization in 1996. He founded ‘Sambhav’ Trust for de addiction in 2008, ‘Sambhavami’ not for profit society to promote micro enterprises in 1992 and conceptualized the ‘National Reconstruction Corps’ in 1998, ‘UNDP-NYKS Poverty Alleviation Awards’ in 1999 and the ‘Millennium Youth Parliament’ in 2000 that was presided by the Prime Minister, initiated a ‘National Think Tank’ in Union Ministry of Finance in 2004, launched annual international conference on ‘Indian Civilization through the Millennium’ in 2008.
