A rich man’s house is demolished because it was built illegally. This has happened for the first time in India where the belief is that the rich are above all laws.
Most often it is the superior judges of India who come out in extraordinary support of the rich and stymie all executive action being taken against them.
Nirav Modi’s 100 crore cottage (stone and marble seaside villa built illegally at Kihim beach, Alibaug, South of Mumbai) has been dynamited by a reluctant Collector, who insisted that the courts give a clear and unambiguous order of demolition before he would act.
Currently the atmosphere in the country is so strongly against wrong-doers that the courts seemed to have been persuaded to order the demolition. The illegal rich would be ruing the day that they supported Narendra Modi for Prime Minister.
