New Delhi Bhopal: After two days of deliberations at the Congress high Command level, Madhya Pradesh Congress committee President Kamal Nath has been named as the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
The conformation about Kamal Nath came after a prolonged meeting Congress President Rahul Gandhi had with senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia to persuade him to accept Kamal Nath as Chief Minister.
The Congress President also met Kamal Nath separately before the final announcement in his favour.
Earlier on 13 December the Congress Legislature Party met in Bhopal and elected Nath as leader and at the same time also passed a resolution that the final decision will be taken by the Congress President.
Jyotiraditya Scindia earlier said in a tweet:
It is not a race, it is not about kursi, we are here to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh. I am leaving for Bhopal and you will get to know the decision today. pic.twitter.com/dBZ7EIQX5c
