Bengaluru: With electoral fortunes oscillating fast as counting of votes progressed, there was a ray of hope for the Congress when BJP tally got restricted to 106 – a handful short of a clear majority needed to form a Government, Congress leader Sonia took the lead this afternoon and spoke directly to Janata Dal (Secular) [JDS] leader HD Deve Gowda to explore the possibility of stitching an alliance to stake claim for forming the next Government in Karnataka.

Deve Gowda, on his part, summoned all his party leaders to discuss the future strategy.

BJP President, Amit Shah has to prove his post-election maneuvering skills once more now. In a similar situation during Bengaluru corporation election, Congress and JDS joined hands to keep the BJP away from power. Congress has offered the CM’s post to Kumaraswamy. Tremors can be felt in the BJP at this stage and the situation would be more clear about the emerging equations later this evening.
