New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has rejected the notice by opposition parties led by the Congress for impeachment of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.

Naidu, who held consultations with legal and constitutional experts to determine the maintainability of the motion, cited lack of substantial merit as the reason while rejecting today the notice for the impeachment of the CJI.

Seven opposition parties led by the Congress last week moved a notice for impeachment of the CJI on five grounds of misbehaviour.
