New Delhi: “Saviour of Kashmir” is the story of the gallant Officer who fought to the “Last man-Last Bullet” thus saving Kashmir from the unscruplus British and dishonest Pakistanis.

It is the untold story of the British planned invasion of Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan Army personnel disguised as civilians assisting the Tribals called Kabailis and Raiders in 1947, says Kunwar Kanveshwar Pratap Singh Jamwal, who is known among his friends as Bobbie Jamwal. He is a proud Dogra from Jammu, who can boast of a rich legacy of bravery and valour that runs in his family.

It was one of its kind of battles fought on uneven grounds and how the combine of British and Pakistani attack of over 6000 trained and well armed troops was foiled by a Die-Hard 100 Dogras of the Jammu and Kashmir State Forces under the Brave Brig Rajinder Singh Jamwal, which enabled the then ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, to accede the State of Jammu and Kashmir to India, Bobbie points out opening a much forgotten chapter of modern Indian History.

Bobbie said: “the great martyr, Brig Rajinder Singh, who led his troops from the front and gave the supreme sacrifice for the nation was the first recipient of Maha Vir Chakra in independent India. He was awarded the honor posthumously by the then Army Chief Field Marshall K.M. Carriappa.”

The Dogras of the Jammu and Kashmir forces and especially the valour demonstrated by Brig Rajinder Singh who gave the aupreme sacrifice should be scripted in letters of gold and he should be honoured with the Paramvir Chakra posthomoualy. Also the blocking of 6000 Pak invaders at Uri for 4-days by a band of 100 dogra troops led by Brigadier Rajinder Singh, which allowed the Indian troops to land at Srinagar airport and repulse the Pak onslaught coinciding with the accession of J&K to India should be included as a full chapter in the NCRT and all text books for schools across the nation. Those writing modern Indian History should not ignore this crucial fact of history.
