Baghdad: BBC, quoting a local police chief has reported that ISIL militants have burned alive 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi local police chief on Tuesday.
The identity of those reportedly massacred by the ISIL has not been established. The local police chief Col Qasim al-Obeidi said those killed are believed to be members of the security forces. IS fighters last week captured large part of al-Baghdadi near Ain al-Asad air base.
Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm John Kirby had earlier told reporters on Friday that Ain al-Asad air base, where more than 300 US Marines are engaged in giving training to Iraq army’s 7th Division, is barely a few miles away.
